Air Conditioner Repair

Don't Wait for Summer for Air Conditioner Repair

When the weather finally warms up, it will quickly remind you of any air conditioning problems you had at the end of last summer. Unfortunately, if you wait until then to call for air conditioner repair, you'll find yourself waiting behind a long line of other people who waited. It's far better to take care of these issues in the winter or spring before there is a big rush of people trying to get their A/C working at the same time.

In many cases, there is no need for the weather to be hot in order to tell what's wrong with your air conditioning. Problems like leaks are diagnosed by testing the pressure of the system, and pinpointed through a variety of methods that don't require an active operation. The same is true of many other issues. You simply need to describe the problem to the technician rather than having him feel the warm air coming out of the vents.

To get the best diagnosis in the off-season, it is important to describe the problem well. Consider whether or not the system makes bad noises, has become much louder than usual, or if it has simply stopped cooling as well as it used to. These facts will guide the service people to the right parts to examine.

In some cases, it may be necessary to attempt to run the system even if it's still quite cold outside. This will allow the technician to hear the equipment for himself, and will make air conditioning repair easier if your description isn't enough to pin down the problem. A test run will typically be done after the repair is complete, as well. While additional cold air may not be fun to have in the winter, it'll be worth it to make sure that all problems have been taken care of.
